Election Day 2011

Today, Tuesday November 8th, 2011, is Election Day for some states. Among the states with especially important state legislative races to be decided tomorrow are Virginia and New Jersey as well as a special election in Iowa. Control of the state Senate in Virginia and Iowa is at stake in tomorrow's balloting. These states have been battlegrounds for pro-life and pro-family measures in recent years.

In Mississippi, voters will decide whether to protect human life from conception by adopting a Personhood Amendment to the Magnolia State's constitution. There, the state's leading political figures have embraced the Personhood Amendment. As an example, both gubernatorial candidates Phil Bryant (R) and Johnny DuPree (D) support a "Yes" vote on Initiative 26, the pro-life measure.

In addition, in Georgia and Washington State, voters will be voting on liquor laws, while New Jersey and Maine voters have ballot initiatives on gambling to consider. Meanwhile Ohio voters will decide whether or not to sustain Gov. John Kasich's rollback of state employees' bargaining rights.
